Work on the world’s largest wind turbine begins
23rd Sep 2016
The world’s biggest wind turbine has started construction in Denmark following the completion of its enormous rotor blades that will power it.
With a blade diameter of 180m it will be 33% bigger than the London Eye.
These huge turbines are scheduled to form part of three large offshore wind farms in France, each with a capacity of 500mw of energy.
Just one of these turbines is able to generate up to 8MW of power and with enough wind can power more than 10,000 homes.
